Unity – We believe in working in partnership with our communities and stakeholders towards common goals so that we are interwoven and indispensable to each other.
Care – We understand the communities we serve so are better able to understand their needs and in turn provide exceptional care.
Harmony – We strive to find a balance between providing clinical expertise and empathy so that our patients receive professional yet caring health services.
Clinix Health Group is very proudly “of, for and by the community”. Prior to South Africa’s democracy, there were few places where black specialists could practise. By setting up private hospitals based in the very communities they serve, Clinix Health Group has been able to give specialist doctors the ideal base from which to operate. In addition, 95% of our nursing, cleaning and administration staff are members of these communities, with over 90% of the group’s employees being female.
The communities surrounding Clinix hospitals have benefited greatly from the group’s presence. They have access to quality private healthcare and services of top specialists. They also enjoy spin-offs that have had a tremendously positive effect on local economies such as employment and development, particularly since the Group sources most products and services from local enterprises.
WORKING CLOSELY WITH GOVERNMENT
Clinix hospitals are the gateway for private healthcare in underprivileged areas and work closely with government to assist in reducing the barriers of care in these communities. The group is dedicated to bridging the divide between public and private sector healthcare by developing initiatives that assist with alleviating the pressures faced by the public sector.
One such initiative is a Public Private Partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health at Clinix Selby Park Hospital a 642-bed facility. This successful partnership has seen Clinix Selby Park providing 140 step down beds to accommodate the overflow of patients from busy public hospitals for the past two years. The contract has recently been extended and now a total of 500 beds are utilised for patients from three public hospitals.
Clinix also manages the 144-bed Victoria Private Hospital in Mafikeng. The hospital building belongs to the North West provincial government and is leased to the private sector on a contract basis.
Another initiative with the government was with the conclusion of the PPP agreement with the Department of Health and Social Development in Limpopo, where the Department decided to concession the Phalaborwa hospital to a private hospital operator, who in return would pay rent and refurbish the current hospital infrastructure. Clinix Health Group together with the Phalaborwa Health Group was appointed as the private party and the PPP deal was signed in Limpopo on 6 December 2010. The construction at the Clinix Phalaborwa Private Hospital is completed and the new, modern hospital opened its doors on 4 June 2012.
